This data-packed CD-ROM of tables and charts, PowerPoint slides, research publications, and a Web-linked timeline of environmental milestones, is available from the Worldwatch Institute

The new CD-ROM contains over 230 datasets of leading environmental and social indicators, for educators, students, journalists, and others who need easy access to key global statistics and analysis.

Signposts 2004 tracks a wide range of trends, including:

Countries with Highest Fertility Levels, 2000-2005 U.S. Military Expenditures,1950-2003, with Budget Requests, 2004-2009 World Oil Consumption Per Day, 1950-2003 Number and Cost of Weather-Related Disasters, 1980-2003 Countries with Highest Ratios of Cell Phones to People, 2002 World Sugar and Sweetener Consumption Per Person Per Day, 1961-2003 The CD also contains the full texts of the recent State of the World and Vital Signs publications. The books are fully searchable and the texts are hyperlinked to extensive endnotes, including relevant online articles and Web sites.

Signposts 2004 promises to be especially useful to educators. The CD-ROM features more than 200 downloadable, presentation-ready PowerPoint slides of important social and environmental trends. Educators can also use the full-color interactive timeline of major environmental events from the last 40 years-complete with photos, descriptions, and Web links-as a basis for discussion within social studies, history, and/or environmental science courses.

The CD-ROM costs $125 USD for nonprofits or academic institutions, $225 for other organisations, or $100 for individuals plus shipping and handling.
